BRIDGEPORT, CA Samantha Virk The Bridgeport area presents an opportunity to try several types of great trout fishing in one convenient location. My first day in Bridgeport I was taken into the local mountains to fish BUCKEYE CREEK. We used flies and Rooster Tail lures catching a few rainbow trout along a couple miles of the creek. The second day we fished TWIN LAKES from a pontoon boat. The fishing was slow and we partied in Bridgeport at Rhinos and THE SPORTSMAN Bar quite late the night before, so I thought I would take a nap and get some sun on the boat. It seemed that every time I started to sleep, I would get a bite. I caught a few small rainbows, but not the giant brown trout that inhabit the lake. The third day I went fly-fishing on the famous EAST WALKER RIVER with local guide Scott Freeman. Scott gave me a complete lesson on casting, fly selection, identifying the best feeding lanes, and gave me quite a few other tips and suggestions. I caught 11 brown trout in 2 hours. Scott is available for guiding from KEN’S SPORTING GOODS in Bridgeport, the BEST LITTLE FLY SHOP ever. Go to KEN’S & enter the contests |
